Odoo CRM is an open source customer relationship management platform with powerful lead scoring and tracking, sales forecasting, and activity tracking tools. The cloud or self-hosted version of Odoo CRM is free and ideal for multi-location organizations that need a cost-effective solution without the need for on-premises installations.

While Odoo CRM is free, a paid subscription unlocks features like accounting and sales. Additionally, it is unique to other Odoo applications, which may be limiting for companies that already have a system.

Odoo Pricing

Odoo CRM is free if you only use the Odoo CRM application standalone. Additional applications will be billed automatically. You can try any app for free for 15 days, then you need to upgrade to a paid plan.

Odoo has two paid plans, billed monthly or annually:

  • standard: $31.10 per user per month, billed annually; or $38.90 per user per month; unlimited applications in the cloud (self-hosted).
  • custom: $46.70 per user per month, billed annually; or $58.40 per user per month; unlimited apps in the cloud and on-premises.

The main difference between paid plans is the ability to host Odoo on your premises and build custom modules under custom plans.

For the first year of subscription, Odoo offers the following price discounts:

  • standard: $24.90 per user per month, billed annually; or $31.10 per user per month.
  • custom: $37.40 per user per month, billed annually; or $46.80 per user per month.

Key Features of Odoo CRM

Intelligent automation

Organizations can set up intelligent automation actions in their dashboards to enable triggers based on specific conditions. Routine tasks can be automated (Figure A), such as updating a lead’s status or sending a follow-up email.

Predictive lead scoring and segmentation

Odoo CRM allows organizations to assign leads based on conversion probability. Predictive lead scoring is based on historical data from open leads or opportunities, but can be customized in settings (Picture B) based on call and email quality. This doesn’t exist in most open source CRM platforms I’ve reviewed.

Generate leads from social media

Odoo CRM allows adding social media accounts as streams in the user’s main dashboard. Once your flow is added, social posts can be seen on the platform, and clicking on a comment on any social post can create a lead (Figure C). This feature is part of the Odoo CRM free plan and is considered a premium feature (paid add-on) along with other top CRM platforms.

Self-service customer portal

Odoo CRM provides a customer portal where customers can access relevant data and communicate with the organization. Companies can also require signatures (Figure D) and documentation from the platform. This functionality is not always present in other CRM applications.

Odoo CRM Advantages

Intuitive user interface

I signed up for a free plan to explore and test the interface and functionality of Odoo CRM. I found its dashboard intuitive and easy to navigate between features. As you click on each contact, its pipeline management view provides an easy-to-understand view with in-depth sections. User reviews on third-party sites echo the same sentiment.

Powerful lead and pipeline management capabilities

Odoo CRM allows users to identify potential customers who are ready for sales. In the pipeline view, users can also instantly view customer details and activity.

Rich community resources and tutorials

Odoo CRM has a wealth of community resources available. Odoo provides documentation and has an active user community in its forums. There are tons of tutorials online for this software.

Odoo CRM Disadvantages

Free plan is limited to one app

While Odoo CRM is technically free, you can only use one application under the free plan. If you need additional features like accounting, sales automation, and project management, you’ll need a paid plan.

Integration is unique to Odoo applications

Odoo CRM is limited to other Odoo applications for integration. While Odoo applications are extensive (72 as of this writing), they’re nothing compared to other CRM software, which has hundreds of third-party integrations available.

Steep learning curve and poor support

As an open source CRM, Odoo CRM is expected to have a slight learning curve. However, real user feedback from third-party sites mentions challenges with initial configuration and a lack of helpful support from the customer support team, even when taking advantage of the Success Pack (custom paid pack) and Premium Support plans.

Alternatives to Odoo CRM

While Odoo CRM allows unlimited customization, it may not be suitable for organizations that lack the expertise to configure individual features. Additionally, Odoo CRM can only be integrated with other Odoo applications, which may be limiting.

Therefore, there are other top CRM software for small businesses, such as Freshsales, as well as those that offer great features in free limited versions, such as HubSpot CRM. SuiteCRM is our preferred open source CRM software and a great choice.

HubSpot Customer Relationship Management

Although HubSpot CRM is not open source, it offers free, powerful tools and developer-friendly integrations for up to 2,500 users. Its custom pipeline and activity tracking provide room for expansion to meet any company’s sales and account management needs. But please note that the customization capabilities are limited compared to Odoo CRM.

Suite CRM

Similar to Odoo CRM, SuiteCRM’s all-in-one open source platform supports customizable features such as case management and workflow. However, unlike Odoo CRM, which only allows cloud or self-hosted options in the free plan unless you upgrade to the paid tier, SuiteCRM offers downloadable and cloud-hosted options.
