Pokemon Go fans excited for new legendaries announced during solar eclipse celebrations

Pokemon fans are celebrating, as Niantic used the eclipse moment to tease the debut of Necrozma, a character that will be unveiled at the upcoming Pokemon Go Fest 2024.

The Pokemon Go App team shared the news on the X social media platform, which included video footage of the solar eclipse, followed by Necrozma’s silhouette appearing on the sidewalk. Then end the clip with the logo for the summer event.

Necrozma characters often rage around in search of the light that serves as their energy. Weaknesses include Darkness, and it’s a Legendary character in Pokemon Sun and Moon, so the timing of the announcement has people excited.

The post has been viewed more than 1.2 million times in the past 24 hours and has been well received by followers. One user replied “Top Marketing” to the announcement post.

Another said “Honestly this is the best way to promote it,” while others described the tease as “perfect timing!”

The news is expected to expand further in the coming months with the global Pokemon Go Fest event taking place on July 13-14.

What to expect from Pokemon Go Fest 2024

The event will be held online over two days. This is the biggest Pokemon Go event of the year, with more than 70 Pokemon set to appear during this time. There will be special costumes for Pokemon and bonuses.

All trainers will receive a one-hour Lure Module duration, field study themes surrounding different Pokémon habitats, and surprise encounters in GO Snapshots.

The mythical Pokémon Marshado will also make its global debut on the first day of the festival, with trainers able to complete special research to learn more about the Dark Dweller Pokémon.

This global campaign follows three live events. The first meeting will be held in Sendai, Japan, from May 30 to June 2.

The next tournament will be held in Madrid, Spain, from June 14th to 16th. New York City will host the third and final live weekend event from July 5-7.
