Pixel Washer lets you spray wash these pixels until they’re clean

Square’s Powerwash Simulator is undoubtedly one of the unexpectedly popular games of the past 12 months. As a concept, it’s an odd one to say the least, but it turns out that the chance to get some satisfaction out of relaxing gameplay on whatever format you choose to play is hard to beat.

With its success, even getting a Warhammer 40k crossover DLC pack, it was probably inevitable that other powerhouse games would come to the fore. Step forward to Pixel Wash, the upcoming indie game from developer Matt Hackett.

Matt said in a post on Reddit: “It’s fun to work on a game that’s basically unchallenging! Normally, my games are very difficult, but Pixel Washer offers a relaxed atmosphere and gameplay that you can follow your own way. Play the game at your own pace, take your time and power wash your cute elves at your leisure.

It’s still early days (targeting a PC version next year), but there are already some first-pass playable levels in the online demo. Interactive and lightweight puzzles are in development. If it looks like your cup of tea, add it to your Steam wash list! “

The goal of Pixel Wash is simply to wash everything away, but what sets it apart from Powerwash Simulator is the gorgeous retro pixel graphics.

As you can see from the trailer below, this will be a huge hit for anyone looking for a relaxing gameplay loop. You can also play a few demo levels on Matt’s website.

People are already asking if the game can be modded. This could open up a world of spring cleaning possibilities.

The full game won’t be released until 2025, so if anyone finds themselves in desperate need of a power wash, they’re welcome to pave my front garden.
