OpenAI makes ChatGPT “more direct and concise”

ChatGPT, OpenAI’s viral AI-powered chatbot, just received a major upgrade.

OpenAI announced today that premium ChatGPT users (customers paying for ChatGPT Plus, Team, or Enterprise) can now take advantage of an updated and enhanced version of GPT-4 Turbo, one of the models that supports the conversational ChatGPT experience.

This new model brings improvements in writing, math, logical reasoning and coding, OpenAI claims, and an updated knowledge base. It was trained using publicly available data as of December 2023, while the previous version of GPT-4 Turbo available in ChatGPT had an end date of April 2023.

The ChatGPT update follows the rollout of new models in the OpenAI developer API, following a rough week for OpenAI.

A report from The Intercept shows that Microsoft is using OpenAI’s DALL-E text-to-image model as a battlefield tool for the U.S. military. And, according to an article in The Information, OpenAI recently fired two researchers, including an ally of chief scientist Ilya Sutskever, who pushed CEO Sam Altman late last year ) was one of those who stepped down for allegedly leaking information.
