Microsoft Flight Simulator Sim Update 15 delayed due to turmoil

Sim Update 15 was expected to be the last major update before Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 launches, but it caused all sorts of problems for developers and has now been delayed further, with no new release date mentioned.

SIM Update 15 was supposed to be released yesterday, and not for the first time, but as the beta rolled out more issues were exposed that were pushed into eager hands, causing patches to come to a standstill again.

Posts began on the Flight Simulator forum stating, “Due to new issues discovered in last week’s Sim Update 15 beta version 1.37.15.0 (WASM “missing content” error, Xbox stuttering/freezing), SU15 will no longer be available on 5/7 Release as we continue to investigate and work toward a resolution.”

It continues: “We are continuing to investigate an Xbox stutter/freeze issue related to a recent GDK update. In the meantime, enabling scroll caching (described below) should reduce the likelihood of most players experiencing stutter/freeze on Xbox performance. Note that this does not resolve the issue and may still be encountered with scrolling caching enabled.

Our goal is to resolve the Xbox freezing/stuttering issue by next week (will be released as soon as possible). Our sincere thanks to everyone who asked these questions and provided detailed steps to reproduce. Your information has been of great help to our investigation so far.

Microsoft and Asabo will be keen to get Sim Update 15 working correctly to minimize any disruption to the latest version of the game, which is expected to be released mid-year, although there has been little news on this front as of late. .

Fingers crossed that all planes land within the next few weeks.
