Meta will pay Threads creators to attract content based on performance

Meta decided to try giving out bonuses to creators who provide engaging content on Threads, its rival app to Elon Musk’s X.

An invitation-only program will contact eligible users via a pop-up notification in the Instagram Help Center detailing more information about how the program will work.

Creators may be able to receive cash rewards “bBased on the performance of your thread posts and bBased on the number of posts you create. For example, you may need to create a certain number of posts to earn a bonus for each post. “

The site also outlines that Threads posts with “fewer than 2,500 qualifying views” will not be eligible for payment.

Currently, there’s no indication of how long the program will run, but it’s another sign that Meta is backing Threads as it strives to compete with X.

Last year, Threads burst onto the online scene when it launched in July amid uncertainty surrounding Elon Musk’s social media app and premature reports of its demise. Its growth since then hasn’t exactly been game-changing, but it has been growing steadily in recent months.

Zuckerberg is ‘optimistic’ about Threads thriving with creator pays

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Threads is currently at the top of Apple’s App Store charts, a sign that people are interested in it. He detailed how Meta had more than 130 million monthly active users in February during the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call.

“I’m optimistic that we can maintain the pace of improvement and growth and show that friendly discussion apps can be as widely used as the most popular social apps,” Zuckerberg said during the call.

By comparison, decline.

Research from San Francisco-based market intelligence firm Sensor Tower found that X’s mobile app had 27 million daily active users in the United States as of February, down 18% from the previous 12 months.
