Life2vec: A warning from the creator of the AI that predicts your death

Artificial intelligence (AI) models have been developed to predict early mortality, among other things, but as interest in the app rises, founders have begun issuing stern warnings.

This fortune-telling artificial intelligence robot, called Life2vec, uses the sequence of life events to predict the future. This is thanks to a multi-year registration data set in Denmark, where the business originated.

Deep learning models analyze information related to health, education, income, occupation, address and work hours to predict everything from major life events to personality nuances.

While some might say this sounds like a bleak way to get a glimpse into the future, the creators describe the tool as “fun and innovative” on their website.

As its popularity grows, researchers have issued a stern warning to those curious to test their own fate.

The website has added a message stating: “But first a warning: We are aware of the life2vec social media account and the presence of at least one fraudulent website. We are not affiliated with these or any other entities claiming to use our technology.”

Concerns were raised after fraudsters said people could try the calculator for free, but researchers said the software was not yet accessible over the internet.

“We are looking at ways to share the model with the wider research community, but LLMs are known to have the potential to leak data, so we must conduct further research before we can do this.

“We have not yet investigated how our results generalize to other countries, but are actively researching this topic.”

AI robot predicts time of death

The predictions are based on responses to general questions such as “Death within four years?”

While the team says it’s not the only focus, they “chose the topic of predicting death because it’s a problem that a lot of people are working on (such as money owed to insurance companies, etc.).”
