India’s Ola withdraws from international market, exits UK, Australia and New Zealand

After six years of expanding into international markets, Ola will shut down operations in the UK, Australia and New Zealand as the company shifts focus to bolstering its domestic business ahead of its initial public offering.

An Ola spokesperson told TechCrunch that the SoftBank-backed ride-hailing startup sees “huge opportunity to expand in India,” where it has expanded to hundreds of cities and offers a range of transportation options, including two-wheelers.

The spokesperson added: “With this clear focus, we have reassessed our priorities and have decided to close our overseas ride-hailing operations in the UK, Australia and New Zealand in their current form.”

This is a development story. Please check back for updates.
