Google will let you swipe right or left on clothes for better fashion recommendations

Google is rolling out a new update to make it easier for users to find personalized shopping results, the company announced Wednesday. The new feature allows users to rate different products to get style recommendations when shopping for clothing, shoes and accessories. The update comes as Google continues to compete with the likes of Amazon and Walmart, which have released artificial intelligence-driven features to rival Google’s shopping capabilities.

When you search for something like “men’s polo shirts” on Google, you’ll now see a new section labeled “Style Recommendations” where you can Rate the options with a thumbs up or a thumbs down. You can also rate products using Tinder-like swipe gestures. If you are unsure about an item, you can skip it. After you rate selected products, Google will display personalized results for you to analyze.

if If you haven’t found what you’re looking for, Google will give you the option to rate more items and see more results. Google remembers your preferences, so if you search for men’s polo shirts again, you’ll see recommendations based on styles you’ve liked in the past.

If you accidentally like a product you don’t like, or just don’t want to see fully personalized shopping results, you can manage your preferences by: Click the three-dot menu next to a result and navigate to the personalization options in the “About this result” panel.

The new feature is rolling out to all U.S. shoppers using mobile browsers and Google apps. Google did not say when or if it plans to expand the feature to more countries.
