Form launches new generation of smart swimming goggles

Fitness technology company Form is about to launch its second-generation smart swimming goggles, priced at $250.

Form says its Form Smart Swim 2 goggles will provide real-time visual feedback – an augmented reality visualization for athletic training.

The goggles are now available globally for $250. As the creator and leader in smart goggles, Form has been upgrading its older smart goggles with new software to meet the needs of triathletes and swimmers of all abilities. I used those old goggles to record my laps and times so I could tell if I was improving.

Building on the success of Smart Swim 1, Form Smart Swim 2 utilizes patented waveguide optics technology and an array of onboard sensors to deliver real-time metrics, guided workouts and unparalleled real-time swim coaching.

Heart rate sensors provide a reliable, accurate method of monitoring heart rate in the water, allowing all swimmers to perform real-time heart rate-based zone training.

It also features SwimStraight, a first-of-its-kind digital compass that allows swimmers to follow directional headings within the goggles, increasing confidence in open water swimming. This reduces course deviation and improves overall swimming efficiency.

Form Smart Swim 2 goggles and all included features are race approved by World Triathlon, USA Triathlon, the Professional Triathlon Organization (PTO) and supertri.

different designs

Form uses simple yellow messages to keep swimmers informed of their real-time progress.

Over the past four years, the Form team has refined its industrial design approach, applying extensive learning and fluid dynamics research to further optimize performance.

The advantage of Smart Swim 2 is that it is 15% smaller. The Smart Swim 2 goggle’s technology package (including accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer and barometer) is now 15% smaller, powered by
Larger than its predecessor, it offers a sleeker, more fluidly dynamic design.

Because comfort is paramount, the new proprietary eye seal now fits the contours of a wider range of facial structures. Extended temples provide new attachment points for the goggle straps for added stability, while five arched bridges ensure a more comfortable, secure and optimal fit.

Form also launched an update to its HeadCoach digital coaching technology. HeadCoach, first launching in October 2023, gives swimmers real-time access to technical awareness, focused skill development (HeadCoach Skills), and in-app education and analytics right in their goggles.

The latest HeadCoach update uses the goggle’s onboard sensors to continuously evaluate performance and technical data to identify areas for improvement. HeadCoach’s machine learning algorithms will automatically generate a variety of personalized workouts designed to make you a better swimmer.

Additionally, Head Coach skill tips will now automatically appear in Free Swim mode and can be manually built into custom workouts, enhancing training effectiveness and skill acquisition.

“The launch of this second generation product builds on our legacy of providing the best, most cutting-edge solutions for swimmers of all abilities,” Form CEO Dan Eisenhardt said in a statement. We are passionate about empowering athletes through real-time feedback from augmented reality, and our next-generation smart goggles embody our ongoing pursuit of excellence in design and performance.”

Eisenhardt added: “Smart Swim 2’s built-in heart rate sensor eliminates the inconvenience of purchasing, connecting and pairing separate devices and displays accurate, continuous, real-time heart rate for optimal training and competition.”

For open water swimmers, “SwimStraight is truly transformative, and especially for triathletes, it provides smart guidance that keeps your swim path straight and true, saving energy, time and improving concentration, “Eisenhardt said.

“In an Olympic year, as a data-driven athlete, it’s imperative that I have access to the best technology at my disposal. Form Smart Swim 2 provides me with the technology and insights to enable me to train and perform at my best. ” Kristian Blummenfelt, the reigning Olympic and World Triathlon Champion, said in a statement.

Form Smart Swim 2 is available now at and select multisport retailers for $249.00 USD / £229.00 GBP / €249.00 EUR.
