Dubai gaming visa aims to attract global gaming workforce by 2033

Dubai is working towards its vision of becoming the world’s leading city in gaming revenue and opening its doors to innovators under a new ‘Gambling Visa’.

The visa service is part of Dubai’s ambitious Gambling Plan 2033, which aims to increase GDP by $1 billion and create 30,000 jobs.

Specific details about the duration of the visa have not been disclosed, but it is described as a “long-term” offering awarded under a “Certificate of Creativity and Talent Accreditation”.

Again, the specifics of the types of people and job roles the city will accept have not yet been outlined, but the website says it aims to attract “talented professionals in the video game industry.” Although the application form does state that you must be 25 years or older to apply.

The plan covers three main areas that could provide further indication of who the city is looking for. These span talent, content and technology. The gaming visa application form is now open, suggesting successful applicants may soon find their way into the City of Gold.

Plans to make Dubai a leader in gaming

Overseen by the Dubai Future Foundation, the Game 2033 program focuses on working with international companies to bring together digital content creators, training and employment opportunities.

It will also provide support to entrepreneurs and innovators as education and training programs will be launched over the next few years.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Future Foundation, introduced the full content of the plan on the official website.

“By launching the Dubai Gaming 2033 Initiative, we aim to establish an incubation environment for developers and attract the world’s leading technology companies, especially those specializing in digital content and experiences.

“The program will support developers, designers and programmers in the creative industries, as well as entrepreneurs and start-ups.”
