Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 releases live-action trailer starring world leaders from the 1990s

Following the paranoia-filled and nostalgic trailer released on Monday, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has released a live-action trailer ahead of its full release on June 9.

The game seems to focus on the 1990s, with many politicians from that era appearing in the trailer. Margaret Thatcher, Saddam Hussein, George H.W. Bush, and Bill Clinton all reappear in the trailer, and they all make fascinating and mysterious statements.

What is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 about?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was announced earlier this month and will be shown live in a special feature after Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase on June 9. The sub-series of Activision Blizzard’s mega-hit shooter series is no stranger to political intrigue or alternative takes on geopolitical struggles from wartime past.

Each title is themed around political milestones in world history and tweaks the classic Call of Duty aesthetic against a darker backdrop. Iconic political figures are used to bring a sense of authenticity to the game, even as events present a fictional timeline of political tensions in an alternate universe.

Rumor has it that the game will be set during the Gulf War era of the early 1990s and will be released in November, just like the other Black Ops games developed by Treyarch.

Raven Software is involved in the development of this secretive series, and it is rumored that the series will feature an open-world map. This does not rule out the use of a linear storyline or a series of chapters as the narrative vehicle for other Call of Duty series, but it will cater to the growing popularity of first-person shooters such as Far Cry and Dying Light.

Fans can expect more exciting details about the game to be revealed immediately after the Xbox Games Showcase concludes on June 9, 2024 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST.

Like its predecessor, the game will be released on multiple platforms including PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
