Berkeley SkyDeck will unveil Level 17 accelerator on April 10

Berkeley SkyDeck, a global entrepreneurship hub and leading accelerator, said a demo day for Batch 17 will be held on April 10.

Despite facing economic headwinds and market volatility, the Berkeley SkyDeck startup has continued to raise capital, including more than $200 million in the past 12 months, reflecting the company’s sound business model and strong leadership team.

In Batch 17, more than half of the 20 participating companies are rooted in AI, with applications across multiple industries including education, healthcare, enterprise software, data and life sciences. The full list of participating startups can be viewed here.

The strong AI representation in this year’s batch reflects SkyDeck’s previous success with AI companies, as well as its ongoing assessment of the market to identify key investment opportunities.

SkyDeck AI alumnus MindsDB, a custom AI creation platform, has raised a total of $54.4 million in funding from top investors including Nvidia venture capital fund NVentures.

Hayden AI, another SkyDeck alumnus focused on artificial intelligence for mobile sensing, has raised a total of more than $100 million from investors including Mitsubishi Electric Innovation Fund and Bridgestone Corporation.

Deepscribe, a platform that uses ambient artificial intelligence to transform conversations between doctors and patients into fully customizable clinical records, has raised $59 million from venture capital firms including Index Ventures and Stage 2 Capital. In addition to its continued investment in AI companies, SkyDeck will host an AI hackathon this summer to identify and develop emerging talent in the field.
